Drones weighing 100g or more must be registered with MLIT (including Remote ID); flying an unregistered drone is punishable by law.
Flying near airports, above 150m, over densely inhabited districts (DID), or in emergency-use airspace requires prior permission from the regional civil aviation bureau, applied for online via DIPS2.0.
Night flights, beyond-visual-line-of-sight flights and similar also require separate approval (with some exceptions for certified aircraft/pilots). Always check the latest rules on the official site before flying.
